Apple activations more than double Samsung in Xmas week
Apple activated more than double the number of new phones in the week to 25 December than rival Samsung, according to Flurry Analytics. The Yahoo! subsidiary found that 44 percent of new phone and tablet activations were Apple devices and 21 percent Samsung devices. While Samsung is slowly growing in popularity throughout the holiday season, up 1 percent from last year, Apple devices continue to be the most popular as Christmas gifts.

In third and fourth positions for activations were Huawei and LG, even though neither had an individual device in the top 35 devices activated. They were followed by Amazon, Oppo, Xiaomi and Motorola, all at 2 percent. Google did not make the top sellers with its Pixel smartphones.

Flurry also found that Christmas Day was the biggest day for app downloads. There were two times as many app installs on Christmas Day as on an average day in December.
