Apple delivers iPhone 6 to mainland China
Apple has started delivering its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones to the Chinese mainland, Xinhua News Agency reports. Customers can acquire the devices from Apple's online and retail stores as well as authorized retailers, including operators and online home appliance companies such as JD.com. The retail prices of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus range between CNY 5,288 (approximately USD 861) and CNY 7,999.

Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones in China are estimated to have reached 20 million during the pre-order period from 10-13 October, Digitimes writes, citing a report from China-based QQ. The report stated that pre-orders on website Jingdong Mall reached nearly 10 million over the period, which coupled with orders direct to telecom providers and Apple pushed total orders to 20 million.

iPhone 6 reservations hit 4 mln in China - report

Reservations for Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus hit 4 million in China on 3 October, according to a report from Tencent. The report also shows that Jingdong received 1,106,379 reservations for the iPhone 6 and 1,189,083 for the iPhone 6 Plus. Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be commercially available in China starting with 17 October. The phone will be available on China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom.

Smartphone demand in China slows

Foxconn to hire more workers due to iPhone 6 demand

Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) expects to hire workers for its plants in Shenzhen and Zhengzhou, China, due to the strong demand for Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones, Digitimes reports, citing sources from the upstream supply chain. To meet Apple's plans to launch its new smartphones in 115 countries and regions worldwide by the end of this year, Foxconn has been aggressively recruiting workers to help assemble iPhone 6 devices, according to the report.
