
The company accused Apple of using the lawsuits as an attempt to pay less for using Qualcomm's technology. It noted that Apple was offered the same terms as terms accepted by more than 100 other Chinese companies and "refused to even consider them". These terms were in line with the rectification plan Qualcomm agreed with Chinese authorities in 2015 following a competition investigation into its licensing practices, according to the company.
Apple earlier filed a lawsuit against Qualcomm in the US, claiming USD 1 billion from the chipmaker. Apple claims it was overcharged in Qualcomm’s "illegal scheme" to control the market for mobile phone chips, according to the suit.Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf said on a conference call on the company's quarterly results that Qualcomm will continue to supply Apple, albeit indirectly. Qualcomm's business with Apple is via contract manufacturers, not a direct supply contract.
