
Apple files patent infringement suit against Nokia

The battle for dominantion of the smartphone market escalated further as Apple launched a patent infringement suit against Nokia. Apple said it was responding to a suit from Nokia and accused the Finish company of infringing 13 Apple patents. Nokia sued Apple in a US court in October, accusing Apple of infringing ten Nokia patents for GSM, UMTS and WLAN technologies. The Nokia suit singles out the iPhone for allegedly using the Nokia technology without authorisation since the handset's launch in 2007. Apple said in a statement that "other companies must compete with us by inventing their own technologies, not just by stealing ours".
