Apple in fresh lawsuit in China
Apple is facing another lawsuit in China, this time over its Siri voice technology. Shanghai Zhizhen Network Technology has sued Apple in China claiming that Siri violates one of its patents, the China Daily reports. The news follows a payment of USD 60 million by Apple to end a case brought by Proview Technology over the iPad trademark. Zhizhen's patent covers "a type of instant messaging chat robot system" and was filed in August 2004. "We have 100 million users in China, and many companies are using our product," the company's chairman chairman Yuan Hui told the China Daily. Zhizhen sent a legal notice to Apple in May but received no response and then filed a suit in a Shanghai court. The company has not sought compensation but is seeking to stop Apple from infringing its patent and cover court costs.
