Archos unveils Arnova tablet brand, reorganisation in China

French internet tablet manufacturer Archos has announced a new brand for entry-level tablets to be sold worldwide, Arnova. The products in the EUR 99 to EUR 199 range will be distributed by Archos Technology Hong Kong, to be renamed Arnova Technology Hong Kong. The group has also renamed its wholly-owned subsidiary Archos Digital Products Shenzen (ADPT) as Archos Technology Shenzhen, with the aim of obtaining a special status as a technology company to gain access to Chinese state aid and stock markets. Archos Technology Shenzhen, which will own 100 percent of Archos Technology Hong Kong, will sell Archos products in China and develop Arnova products in partnership with Archos. The Shenzhen unit will combine Archos's architecture and industrial design expertise with its experience in product design, production management, marketing and sales in the Chinese market. The new organisation reflects Archos's stated ambition to focus on its commercial development in the Asia-Pacific, especially China.
