Argentina fines Movistar ARS 185 mln for service outage
Argentina fined Movistar ARS 185 million (approximately EUR 32.5 million) for the service interruption that left more than 18 million customers without phone and data service for several hours on 2 April, Cinco Dias reports, citing planning minister Julio De Vido. Movistar will reimburse ARS 10 to each customer, as well as pay an additional fine of ARS 6 million (approximately EUR 1 million). According to Ceferino Namuncura, head of Argentinean telecoms regulator Comision Nacional de Comunicaciones (CNC), the service outage was caused by "a software problem".
