Asia-Unicom builds backbone to China

Kyrgyzstan operator Asia-Unicom has deployed a fibre-optic backbone in South Kyrgyzstan, reports Profit.kz. It is the only DWDM backbone across the country. The capacity of the backbone line is 100 Gbps, expandable to 2,000 Gbps.

The length of the line totals 272.6 kilometres. It connects the settlement of Dostuk, a neighbourhood of Osh at the Uzbekistan border, with the Irkeshtam border-crossing point on the Kyrgyzstan-China border. The operator has also launched a commutation centre in Osh.

Under cooperation with China Unicom, Asia-Unicom has direct links with Hong Kong and Moscow-based traffic exchanges.
