AT&T, Ericsson explore selling Digital Life outside US

AT&T Digital Life and Ericsson have entered discussions to potentially provide AT&T Digital Life wireless home security and automation solution internationally. Ericsson would provide its sales channels and technical expertise to help service providers wanting to offer the Digital Life platform outside the US. Ericsson may help test and integrate the platform onto the licensing company’s systems, as well as providing post-launch support.

AT&T Digital Life allows consumers to manage their homes via smartphone, wearable, tablet or computer. The ecosystem can also integrate third-party devices and services. The companies are showcasing Digital Life at Mobile World Congress in the Ericson hall and AT&T’s area within the GSMA Innovation City.

AT&T inks 5-year agreements with European companies

AT&T said it has signed two five-year contracts with European companies. The telco will supply its highly secure global network to German global chemicals company Evonik Industries. AT&T added 60 locations to Evonik's global private communications network under the agreement. Evonik's network now spans over 200 locations in Europe, the US, Asia Pacific and South America.

AT&T adds voice assistant to smart home app

AT&T's Digital Life home automation service will demo at CES a new Voice Assistant mobile app that allows users to use their voice to control certain aspects of their Digital Life home security and automation system, including being able to ask questions of the system. The app is in active trials now and will be launched  commercially in H1. AT&T Digital Life will demonstrate the app's features at the AT&T Developer Summit at CES 2016.
