AT&T to offer Magic Leap One from April at USD 2,295

AT&T will offer from 1 April the Magic Leap One, a wearable headset that stimulates end-users' senses through spatial computing. Its cameras, sensors, and speakers add a layer of graphics over real objects, melding what's imagined with what's real. The initial launch will operate over a Wi-Fi connection and provide new communication and entertainment experiences at a whole new level, the operator said.

The Magic Leap One wearable device will be available at USD 2,295 in AT&T flagship stores in Boston (Boylston) and Chicago (Michigan Avenue) on 3 April and San Francisco (1 Powell) on 6 April. It will also be found in other stores in the coming months. The device can be ordered online as well starting from 5 April.

Fan-focused Game of Thrones campaign ahead of final season on HBO

Customers who visit AT&T flagship stores in Boston, Chicago, New York City and San Francisco on 1 April will be able to test the headset during a campaign called 'Dead must die' held by AT&T and HBO to celebrate the final season of Game of Thrones, premiering 14 April on HBO. They'll be able to fight White Walkers during an immersive experience that brings elements of HBO’s Game of Thrones universe into the real world.

This spring, AT&T will also introduce a DirecTV Now Beta on Magic Leap, in addition to the CNN-branded experience currently available, providing AT&T customers spatial enablement of video content.

5G to come to Magic Leap campus later in 2019

In addition, AT&T is preparing for a 5G future by bringing 5G to the Magic Leap campus later in 2019, so developers can innovate in near-real-time on a live 5G network. Magic Leap is an initial participant in the 'AT&T 5G Innovation Program,' where developers are working with AT&T to come up with ideas and test use cases on AT&T's live mobile 5G network.

New ways to use Magic Leap

Enterprises are also looking at new ways to use Magic Leap across a number of industries including healthcare, retail and manufacturing as they explore the ways in which spatial computing and 5G can benefit their processes and customers. In February, AT&T, Magic Leap and Vitas Healthcare launched a virtual reality study for hospice patients.
