AT&T, Verizon to sell iPad 2 from 11 March
US mobile operators AT&T and Verizon announced that they will both start selling Apple's iPad 2 on 11 March. Announced earlier this month by Apple, the iPad 2 with 3G access sells for USD 629 for the 16GB model, USD 729 for 32GB and USD 829 for 64GB. AT&T offers 3G service with no contract required, for USD 14.99 for 250 MB per month or USD 25 for 2 GB. As a promotional offer, customers taking the USD 25 plan will get the first month free. Enabling Wi-Fi sharing on the devcie requires customers to take the more expensive data plan and pay another USD 20 per month for an additional 2GB data. Verizon's plans start at USD 20 per month for 1GB. Verizon customers can get 3GB for USD 35, 5GB for USD 50 or 10GB for USD 80. In addition to the mobile operators, Apple's own stores, Best Buy, Target, Walmart and select Apple resellers will sell the iPad 2 from 11 March.

Vodafone UK to offer iPad 2

Vodafone UK confirmed it will offer the Apple iPad 2 with Wi-Fi and 3G access, as well as dedicated iPad data plans in the coming weeks. Further details were not disclosed. The iPad 2 is scheduled to launch in the UK on 25 March.

Apple's iPad 2 sees strong sales in first weekend

Apple's iPad 2 attracted long queues at shops on 11 March when it went on sale in the US. By the end of the weekend, the device was attracting a wait of 3-4 weeks for delivery on Apple's own websites, according to local news reports. Analysts estimate the Apple sold 400,000 to 600,000 units of the new tablet PC during its first three days on the market, about the same range as the original model sold in its first week.
