AT&T lays off over 2,000 employees - report

After announcing it would pay staff bonuses of USD 1,000 following the passage of the tax reform bill in the US, AT&T also handed out pink slips to hundreds of workers in Illinois and five other Midwest states, the Chicago Tribune reported. About 600 workers across a variety of positions, from retail sales clerks to satellite technicians, were notified about the layoffs in the runup to Christmas, said sources close to the situation.
