Global provider of business collaboration and communications systems Avaya announced it has joined the Open Visual Communications Consortium (OVCC), the organisation working to develop interoperability of videoconferencing systems. As part of the OVCC group, Avaya will help develop guidelines for interoperable, inter-company B2B communications. As a provider of real-time enterprise collaboration systems, Avaya will actively participate in the technical activities of the OVCC as well as provide its expertise in the areas of video software and hardware interoperability, call control platforms, and session border control. Started by Polycom, the OVCC includes a number of the world's largest business services providers, such as BT, Orange and AT&T, as well as makers of videoconferencing systems.
