AWN launches LTE-A service on 1800 MHz in Thailand

Advanced Wireless Network (AWN), a subsidiary of Thai operator Advanced Info Service (AIS), has officially launched 4G services. Branded ‘AIS 4G Advanced’, the service leverages LTE-A technology, with service coverage for over 42 provinces in every region nationwide. The company plans to have full coverage in every province by May 2016.

AWN received its license in the 1800 MHz spectrum in November 2015, and has been conducting early trials since December 2015. The operator now offers services in both 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz spectrum bands.

The operator has also launched ‘AIS Play' entertainment centers. AIS Play enables customers to access 4G services with LTE-Advanced technology on 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz. A total of 7,000 sites are powered by optical fiber network over 150,000 km long with coverage in both indoor and outdoor. AIS Play comes with 100 TV channels for live and recorded viewing, movies from Thai and foreign producers, Hollywood series, sports, cartoons etc. AIS Play is embedded with 100 GB of AIS Cloud free of charge for one year.
