Amazon Web Services (AWS) said it has opened a new region in China with Ningxia Western Cloud Data Technology (NWCD) and follows. AWS China (Ningxia) will be operated by NWCD. The AWS China (Ningxia) Region, operated by NWCD, joins AWS China (Beijing) Region, operated by Sinnet. It is the seventh Region in Asia Pacific, along with AWS Regions in Beijing, Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo. With the launch, AWS now provides 46 Availability Zones across 17 technology infrastructure regions globally, with announced plans for another 15 Availability Zones across five AWS Regions in Bahrain, France, Hong Kong SAR, Sweden, and the US.
Working with NWCD, the new AWS China (Ningxia) Region is in full compliance with Chinese regulations. In November, Amazon agreed to sell its AWS public cloud computing unit to Beijing Sinnet Technology for up to CNY 2 billion in order to comply with Chinese laws.
Founded in 2015, NWCD is a licensed data centre and cloud services provider based in Ningxia.
