Axiata Group unveils network business unit
Asian mobile operator group Axiata Group has established a new business unit and announced new appointments to lead the new unit. The group's chief financial officer, James Maclaurin will be vacating his post to move to the new business unit, e.co, as chief executive officer per 1 January 2014. Joining Maclaurin will be Nashad Emir and Thivanka Rangala, both internal hires, as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of e.co. The new business unit will own and manage the passive network infrastructure of the Axiata Group as a business and will have subsidiaries in most of Axiata's markets. Axiata has appointed Chari TVT as chief financial officer to replace Maclaurin. Chari was previously the CFO of Celcom Axiata in Malaysia.

Asian mobile operator group Axiata saw its profit inch up only 0.8 percent in the fourth quarter to MYR 576 million. Axiata open to further acquisitions

Asian mobile operator group Axiata is open to acquisitions in markets where it can consolidate the telecommunications industry. The company is currently merging its Indonesian unit XL Axiata with newly acquired Axis Telecom. "Generally we're open to see how we can consolidate markets. We've done a few (acquisitions) in Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Indonesia. Axiata's Q3 profit slips, revenues grow 5%

Asian mobile operator group Axiata reported a net profit of MYR 769.78 million, down 4.8 percent year-on-year from MYR 808.41 million. The decrease was due mainly to lower EBITDA contribution in Indonesia, higher foreign exchange losses, and a one-off reversal in Q3 2012 of cumulative deferred tax liability in Sri Lanka. Axiata names Supun Weerasinghe as CEO of Robi

Asian mobile operator group Axiata has appointed Supun Weerasinghe as chief executive officer of Robi Axiata in Bangladesh. Supun will be relinquishing his current role as Axiata's group chief strategy officer at the end of December. He will be replacing Michael Kuehner at Robi. Furthermore, Kanishka Wickrama has been appointed chief financial officer of Smart Axiata (formerly Hello Axiata) in Cambodia. Axiata plans IPO for tower assets within 2 years

Asian mobile operator group Axiata Group is planning to hold an IPO for its telecommunications assets within two years. The company earlier unveiled a new business unit to oversee the tower assets called e.co. Axiata to raise USD 500 mln in IPO of towers - report

Malaysian mobile operator Axiata Group plans to raise at least USD 500 million in an initial public offering of its telecommunications tower assets, reports Bloomberg citing two people with knowledge of the matter.
