
Base to roll out 3G in 20 Belgian cities by yr-end

Belgian mobile operator and KPN unit Base will activate its 3G network in twenty Belgian cities by the end of the year. The network is currently active in six cities, KPN said during the release of its third quarter results. The network offers a maximum download speed at 1 Mbps. In Q3, Base served a total of 3,667,000 customers, an increase of 3 percent from the year before. The KPN unit recorded a market share of around 26 percent. The number of customers with a subscription rose by 14,000, while prepaid reported a greater increase of 24,000.
