BBC planning online music service - report
The BBC is working on developing an iPlayer-style online music service, reports The Telegraph. This service, dubbed Playlister, would give licence-fee payers free access to thousands of music recordings, with the BBC understood to be talks with commercial players about possible licensing deals. It is expected to offer a similar service to online music streaming services such as Spotify, and could be launched later in 2012 or early-2013. The scheme is being driven by the BBC's Director of Audio & Music, Tim Davie.

BBC iPlayer registers record 199 mln requests in September

BBC iPlayer registered a record 199 million requests in September, driven by an increase in radio requests, which were up 8 percent from August. Requests-per-week remained high in September (43 million average) and increased across the month; with average daily requests reaching a record six million programmes per day. Mobile and tablet accounted for over a fifth of requests in September (21%); and TV platform operators (+22%) and games consoles (+16%) saw the highest growth in requests.

KPN Group Belgium tekent overeenkomst met Spotify

Als gevolg van een overeenkomst met Spotify biedt KPN Group Belgium vanaf 15 oktober streaming muziek. De dienst komt in eerste instantie beschikbaar voor Base Check-klanten en postpaid-abonnees. Base Check komt halverwege oktober met een Spotify Premium-bundel (t.w.v. 9,99 euro/maand), onbeperkt sms'en op alle Belgische netwerken, 2GB mobiel internet en 150 belminuten op alle Belgische netwerken voor 25 euro per maand.
