Belgacom reports slowdown in growth
On 27 February 2003, Belgacom reports that turnover leveled off slightly, but that net profit and operating profit gained ground. Belgacom finished the year with satisfactory results. The Group's consolidated turnover amounted to EUR 5.220 billion, a slight decrease of 2.9% compared to 2001 (EUR 5.375 billion). This primarily reflected the successive sale of certain of the Group's activities at the end of 2001 and in 2002 (Infonie, Belgacom France, Belgacom Security Group and Ben Nederland). Indeed, based on comparable figures, turnover rose by 2.4% (compared with 4.6% in 2001), principally due to the growth in revenue from Belgacom Mobile, data communication (essentially ADSL) and, Wholesale & Carrier. The consolidated EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization) amounted to EUR 1.985 billion, as compared with EUR 1.922 billion for the previous year.
