The Belgian gouvernment has announced it is going to postpone the introduction of third-generation mobile services with one year to September 2003, according to a report by Total Telecom. A spokesman for regulator IBPT revealed that the regulator advised a six-month delay to the government, but the government thought it is wiser to allow Belgium's three mobile operators Proximus, Mobistar, and KPN an extra year, considering their earlier request for such a delay. The operators suffer delays in the supply of dual-mode handsets and 3G network infrastructure.
