Bharti Airtel promotes Mandava to Airtel Africa head

Bharti Airtel has announced top-level leadership changes in its global operations, promoting Raghunath Mandava to the position of Africa head and moving the unit’s current head, Christian Defaria, to the Netherlands. 

Mandava will take over as managing director and chief executive officer on 01 January 2017 and will be a permanent invitee to the Bharti Airtel board. He became Airtel Africa COO in July after serving many years at the company's Indian operations. 

Defaria, executive chairman at Airtel Africa, has been designated chairman of Bharti Airtel International (Netherlands) BV, also from 01 January.
