Botswana signs contract with IFC for privatisation of BTC
Botswana's privatization agency Peepa has signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation to act as transactional advisers in the privatisation of Botswana Telecommunication Corporation. Peepa said in a statement that the IFC will advise the agency on increasing private sector participation, reducing telecommunications charges and extending telephone coverage at BTC. The IFC is expected to work with Peepa to secure a strategic equity partner that can invest in and operate BTC. The IFC is also tasked with introducing policy measures to liberalise the telecommunications industry.
