The Botswana government announced plans to privatize the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC), despite concerns from some civil society organisations and politicians. Presidential Affairs minister Lesego Motsumi told parliament that the cabinet has taken a decision on the privatisation structure of BTC and the information will soon be communicated with all stakeholders, the Sunday Standard reported. She said the aim of the privatization was to minimise risks, get maximum benefits and, as such, government had to carry out extensive consultations before going ahead with the plans.
