Bouygues to focus on mobile, fibre

After losing to Numericable in a takeover bid for French operator, SFR, Bouygues Telecom said it will continue to play a leading role in the country's telecom market. Its agreement to sell its mobile network to Free Mobile if its offer for SFR was accepted is moot. Bouygues said it now has to look to the future. It has a number of considerable strengths in the mobile business, where the 4G service is proving to be very successful thanks to its wide coverage. It has also won many subscribers to its recently launched EUR 19.99 a month fixed internet plan, which undercut the prevailing market rate of EUR 30.
