Bridge Alliance launches M2M partnership
Eleven Asia Pacific mobile operators part of the Bridge Alliance formed the new Machine-to-Machine (M2M) alliance. The Bridge M2M Alliance aims to eliminate the complexity of dealing with multiple operators by offering seamless delivery of regional M2M services across geographical borders. The Alliance also plans to improve customers' service experience through enhanced interoperability, service levels and customer support. The Bridge M2M Alliance comprises Globe Telecom (Philippines), Airtel (India), AIS (Thailand), CSL (Hong Kong), Maxis (Malaysia), MobiFone (Vietnam), Optus (Australia), SingTel (Singapore), SK Telecom (South Korea), Taiwan Mobile (Taiwan) and Telkomsel (Indonesia).

Mobifone launches Happy Tourist package

Vietnamese mobile services provider Mobifone has introduced the "Happy Tourist" package for tourists. The package comes with a Sim card and an account worth about VND 250,000 for calls, SMS, and data services. User guides are offered in English, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese, Tuoi Tre News reports. The operator promotes the package at airports and popular tourist destinations in the country.

Telkomsel plans USD 200 mln bond issue

Indonesian mobile operator Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) plans to issue USD 200 million worth of bonds in Q2, Reuters writes citing an Investor Daily report. The company will seek shareholder approval for the plan at the annual general meeting on 4 April. Telkomsel will use the funds to fund its capital expenditure, which has been earmarked at USD 885 million for this year.

Telkomsel's FY revenues grow on mobile data

Indonesian mobile operator Telkomsel, part of Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), reported a FY 2013 profit of IDR 17.35 trillion, up 10.4 percent year-on-year. Revenues went up 10.1 percent to IDR 60.03 trillion, driven by strong growth in data broadband (up 35.6%), digital services (up 30.3%) and continued growth in legacy business with voice (up 4.5%) and SMS (up 3.3%). Taiwan Mobile to roll out 10,000 4G base stations

Taiwanese telecommunications provider Taiwan Mobile plans to roll out 8,000 to 10,000 4G base stations before the end of 2015. The operator plans to launch 4G services on 700 MHz this year and aims to cover 90 percent of the population by next year, the Digitimes writes citing Taiwan Mobile president James Jeng.

CSL deploys LTE-A 300 Mbps cell site

Hong Kong mobile operator CSL, with Chinese equipment vendor ZTE, has deployed an LTE Advanced 300 Mbps cell site in a commercial network. The operator has combined its existing licensed 20 MHz LTE carrier at 2600 MHz with another licensed 20 MHz LTE carrier at 1800 MHz, to achieve a maximum theoretical speed of 300 Mbps. Indonesian mobile operator Telkomsel has selected Axeda's Machine Cloud Telco Edition as its go-to-market platform to deliver Internet-of-Things services. NTC asks Globe to submit unlimited data contracts

The Philippines' National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) asked Globe Telecom to submit all unlimited data contracts with its subscribers in an investigation into complaints about the company's data cap, InterAksyon.com reports. Maxis Q4 profit falls, revenues grow

Malaysian communications provider Maxis saw its fourth quarter profit slip 1.9 percent to MYR 466 million from MYR 475 million in the year-ago period. Revenues were up 1.3 percent to MYR 2.22 billion as mobile revenues fell 1.1 percent to MYR 2.02 billion, enterprise fixed revenues grew 18.2 percent to MYR 61 million, home revenues jumped 129 percent to MYR 23 million, and international gateway revenues fell 18.9 percent to MYR 9 million. AIS grows FY profits 4%

Thai mobile operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) posted a FY 2013 profit of THB 36.27 billion, up 4 percent from a year earlier due to improved EBITDA and reduced corporate tax, in spite of higher network depreciation and amortisation on new 2.1 GHz spectrum. EBITDA grew 3.7 percent to THB 63.69 billion, driven by lower regulatory fees for the 2.1 GHz licence.
