BT files Android patent infringement lawsuit against Google

BT has filed a lawsuit against Google in the US claiming that the Android mobile operating system infringes six of its patents, reports The Guardian. BT claims that its patents are infringed by Google Music, Google Maps, location-based advertising and Android Market products in Android. It is seeking billions of dollars in damages. If successful, the lawsuit could result in Google or mobile phone makers paying BT royalties on each Android handset currently available or produced in the future. The move by BT means that Google is now battling lawsuits against Android from six major companies - the others are Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, eBay and Gemalto.
