BT, Huawei achieve record 2 Tbps speeds on live network

BT confirmed that new trials with Huawei have achieved record speeds of 2 Tbps over a live core network link which coves more than 700 km between London and Dublin. The trials were conducted by BT researchers at Adastral Park, Ipswich. They used optical superchannel technology to the commercial fibre link carrying live customer traffic between London and Dublin.

Separately, BT also announced that it has successfully transmitted speeds of 5.6 Tbps over a single optical fibre running on its trial network between the BT Labs in Adastral Park and the BT Tower in London, beating the previous record of 3 Tbps set in 2014.
