Cable & Wireless, the global telecommunications group, today (18 March 2003) announces the launch of ALLnet, a network infrastructure services group providing customers with expertise in managing the increased complexity of voice systems, local and wide area networks and other network related services in the information and communication technologies (ICT) market.
ALLnet has secured operational synergies through merging six complementary companies acquired by Cable & Wireless between 1998 and 2000 providing a single source for ICT services covering hardware installation and maintenance and systems development and integration activities – segments of the ICT market offering significant growth opportunities. ALLnet will target medium-sized regional and national enterprises and public sector organisations in the UK and Ireland alongside working in partnership with network operators and other ICT services companies.
ALLnet merges complementary expertise in ‘niche’ aspects of information and communications technology and over 500+ professional and engineering staff provide resources covering local and wide area networks, telephone and contact centre systems, IT security, managed networks, structured cabling and professional services. The six businesses that formed ALLnet are ML Integration, BTN, Grant & Taylor, ML Careline, Cable & Wireless Systems Integration (Ireland) and ALLnet.
Gartner Group predicts that the ICT services markets covering hardware installation and maintenance and systems development and integration in the UK & Ireland will grow almost fourfold in the next few years from $5bn in 2002 to $19bn in 2006, underpinned by the projected increase in outsourcing.
Glanbia, an international food company with a turnover of EUR2.6B, is an existing customer of ALLnet. Mr. Nickey Brennan, Glanbia Communications and Services Manager, sees the ability to provide service reach across Ireland and the UK as being very advantageous to their business. He says, “We run a business critical IP network through 100 sites in these two major markets. There are very significant cost and convenience benefits from being able to use one service provider for all our networking needs.”
As well as providing services direct to smaller companies, ALLnet also provides its services to larger organisations through outsource arrangements with service providers such as Cable & Wireless or in tandem with other large technology services companies, such as Siemens or Fujitsu.
Ian Burnley, Group Managing Director, ALLnet, said “The six original companies were successful in their niche areas, but the combined business entity has a stronger customer base, increased scale and an impressive breadth and depth of expertise in our markets. The ALLnet group is ideally placed to take advantage of the ongoing growth and demand for ICT services from specialist providers.”
ALLnet has 570 employees across its network of twelve offices (eight in the UK and four in Ireland), and has an annual turnover in excess of £80 million.
