Cell C appoints Knott-Craig as new CEO
Cell C said Alan Knott-Craig has been appointed as its CEO from 01 April 2012. Non-executive chairman Simon Duffy had been acting as interim CEO for the past six months. Lars Reichelt had resigned as Cell C CEO in 2010. Knott-Craig previously led Vodacom for 15 years until he resigned on health grounds in September 2008. Separately, Knott-Craig told ITWeb the company aims to attract at least five million more customers in the next few years. It currently has 9 million customers. He told ITWeb that Cell C is headed for big things, as long as it puts its head down, does what is needed, and does it well. A reorganisation of the company will stand it in good stead to achieve its various marketing, financial and customer-related goals, Knott-Craig told ITWeb.
