Cesky Telecom enters the Austrian market
CESKY TELECOM has completed its preparations for commercial operations in Austria with the acquisition of a licence for the provision of telecommunication services. The Czech provider will offer an integrated portfolio of voice and data services to wholesale partners, among them local and international telecommunication operators, including mobile telephony providers, as well as Internet service providers. The company has a fully digital telecommunications network at its disposal, covering all of the Czech Republic and being connected through its own access points in Vienna, Bratislava and Frankfurt am Main to world-wide networks. The modern infrastructure, based on SDH/WDM technology, is further connected to all major foreign operators, offering access to close to 200 destinations throughout the world. CESKY TELECOM has established CZECH TELECOM Austria GmbH, its Viennese subsidiary, which acquired its telecommunications license on February 17, 2003. ”The decision was the logical result of current requirements by Czech and foreign clients. CESKY TELECOM’s entry into foreign markets was timed in connection with the anticipated expansion of the EU and the culminating liberalisation of telecommunications markets in candidate countries in the Central European region. At the same time, CESKY TELECOM is the first national operator from these countries to begin providing services abroad through its own infrastructure,“ according to Pavel Jirousek, CESKY TELECOM Executive Vice President for Wholesale Services. “We want to offer Austrian customers high quality, quick connections to the Czech Republic. We also aim to become an interesting alternative for transit operations to Central and Eastern European counties, where we traditionally have a large base thanks to a long-term co-operation with our partners, and to Frankfurt and from there to the rest of the world,“ he adds. ”Thanks to the fact that our network now reaches as far as Vienna, we can provide wholesale partners with services offering a greater guarantee of reliability, at more attractive prices than was the case with the traditional model of several interconnecting operators,“ explained Stuart Evers, CESKY TELECOM Manager for International Voice Services, Wholesale Services Division. ”Another great advantage is non-stop central supervision of the entire network, which monitors operations 24 hours a days, 365 days of the year. Partners appreciate the constant availability of operators speaking English fluently at our company’s Help Desk,“ added Tomas Padera, CESKY TELECOM Manager for the Sale of Wholesale Data Services in Austria. An important part of the comprehensive concept is co-operating with Interxion, a company providing data center services for CESKY TELECOM in Austria. As Anthony Foy, Group Managing Director Interxion Europe says: ”CESKY TELECOM brings a new dynamic to the Austrian telecommunications market and we are pleased that it has become one of our customers. Apart from a quality base, we want to offer our Czech partners possible synergy with other operators to whom we provide services."
