Charter introduces new digital TV service, Charter Spectrum

Charter Communications has introduced a digital version of its television service under a new brand name, reported Bloomberg. The company plans to begin sale of its new digital-TV and broadband service, Charter Spectrum, in the first quarter of 2014. Charter's new service will offer customers twice as many high-definition options, more than 200 channels, up from an average of 100 channels, and include broadband speeds of more than 45 Mbps, the company said. By the first quarter 2014, digital service will only be available to about a third of households wired by Charter, with the additional two-thirds gaining digital capability over the following nine months, said chief marketing officer Jon Hargis in an interview.
