Chile fines Claro, Movistar, Entel USD 8.1 mln
Chile's Supreme Court has fined mobile operators Claro, Movistar and Entel nearly CLP 1.4 billion (approximately USD 2.7 million) each for anticompetitive practices, Diario Financiero reports. The court says Chile's three largest mobile operators have blocked the entrance of MVNOs on the local market

Chilean antitrust agency FNE (Fiscalia Nacional Economica) has submitted for consultation to the Tribunal for the Defence of Free Competition (TDLC) the proposed merger of domestic operators GTD and Entel. Chilean MVNO market starts this year

Chile's mobile phone market is expected to take-off this year with the arrival of MVNOs, Estrategia writes. This follows a recent supreme court decision fining Movistar (Telefonica), Claro and Entel USD 1.4 billion each for failing to allow MVNOs into the market.
