China Mobile has re-branded its Pakistan subsidiary Paktel under the name Zong. The launch event was held on 5 April with local government officials. Pakistan is the Chinese operator's first operation abroad; it acquired Paktel in early 2007 from Millicom. The company has launched a major advertising campaign for Zong, with the tagline 'Say it all', and committed to investing "hundreds of millions" in the operator. According to the latest figures from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Paktel had 2.145 million customers at the end of February.
