China Telecom CEO moves to China Mobile

China Telecom announced that Yang Jie has resigned from his position of chairman and has been appointed as chairman of China Mobile. Jie has also resigned from his positions of executive director, chairman and CEO of China Telecom, effective 4 March, due to the change in work arrangement. 

Jie replaces Shang Bing, who is stepping down as chairman and CEO of China Mobile due to reaching retirement age. China Mobile noted that there was no disagreement with Shang and acknowledged his "outstanding contributions to the company with the highest regard and deepest gratitude". He served as CEO since September 2015. 

Jie was head of China Telecom since April 2016 and previously served as COO of the operator. An announcement on his replacement at China Telecom will be made at a later date.
