China Telecom CEO moves to China Mobile

China Telecom announced that Yang Jie has resigned from his position of chairman and has been appointed as chairman of China Mobile. Jie has also resigned from his positions of executive director, chairman and CEO of China Telecom, effective 4 March, due to the change in work arrangement. 

Jie replaces Shang Bing, who is stepping down as chairman and CEO of China Mobile due to reaching retirement age. China Mobile noted that there was no disagreement with Shang and acknowledged his "outstanding contributions to the company with the highest regard and deepest gratitude". He served as CEO since September 2015. 

Jie was head of China Telecom since April 2016 and previously served as COO of the operator. An announcement on his replacement at China Telecom will be made at a later date.

China Mobile revenues dip lower in 2018, profit up 3%

China Mobile reported revenues down 0.5 percent in 2018 to CNY 736.8 billion, hurt by the new accounting rules and competition in the mobile market. Excluding the accounting effect, the company said revenues rose 1.8 percent, and service revenue was up 3.7 percent to CNY 670.9 billion. Mobile revenue declined 1.9 percent to CNY 492.4 billion or 73 percent of the total revenue.

China Telecom grows FY net profit 14% after mobile expansion

China Telecom reported net profit for 2018 up 13.9 percent to CNY 21.2 billion, supported by its strong growth in the mobile market. Revenues rose 3.0 percent to CNY 377.1 billion, and EBITDA increased 2.0 percent to CNY 104.2 billion, for a slight fall in the margin to 29.7 percent.

China Telecom leads mobile market growth in December

China Telecom added the most mobile customers in the Chinese market in December 2018. The operator's base grew by 3.22 million to 303 million. China Mobile followed, with net additions of 2.96 million to 925.06 million, and China Unicom gained 2.03 million to reach a total of 315 million at the end of the month.

China Telecom appoints Ke Ruiwen as president, COO

China Telecom has appointed Ke Ruiwen, an executive director of the company, as its president and COO, effective immediately, until the annual general meeting of the company for the year 2019 to be held in year 2020. Ruiwen no longer holds the office of the executive VP, with immediate effect.

China Telecom COO Jie promoted to chairman, CEO

China Telecom has appointed Yang Jie as its chairman and CEO, effective immediately. Jie's appointment is valid until the AGM of the company for the year 2016 to be held in 2017. Jie has been promoted from his role as China Telecom president and COO, which he has held since 2011. China Telecom has also appointed Yang Xiaowei as its president and COO, effective immediately. Xiaowei previously served as China Telecom's executive vice-president.

China Mobile appoints Bing as chairman

China Mobile has appointed Shang Bing as its executive director and chairman of the board, effective immediately. Bing replaces Xi Guohua, who resigned from his positions within the company on 24 August. Bing currently serves as chairman and secretary of the CPC Committee of China Mobile Communications and chairman of China Mobile Communication.
