China Telecom tops mobile subscriber additions in December

China Telecom led the new mobile subscriber additions on the local market in December. The operator added 1.33 million mobile subscribers in December. China Telecom ended December with a total of 197.9 million mobile subscribers, up from 196.5 million in November. ChinaMobile topped 826.2 million mobile telephony subscribers in December, up from 825.1 million at the end of November. China Unicom ended December with 286.6 million mobile subscribers, following a net loss of 262,000 subscribers during the month.  

During December 2015, China Mobile saw 1.05 million net customer additions, compared to 1.2 million in November 2015. China Mobile's 3G subscriber base reached 169.3 million at 31 December, down from 178.9 million in November. The operator ended 2015 with over 312.2 million subscribers in the 4G segment compared with 287.3 million in the previous month.  

China Unicom had over 183.8 million mobile broadband subscribers at end-2015, following net additions of 3.6 million subscribers in the month. Total subscribers in the fixed broadband segment reached 72.3 million at end-December. During the month, the operator recorded a net addition of 60,000 subscribers in this segment. China Unicom ended 2015 with 73.8 million local access subscribers, after a loss of 1.1 million subscribers during the month.

China Telecom saw a net increase of 1.33 million mobile subscribers in December. The operator ended 2015 with 113 million fixed broadband accesses, compared to 112.4 million the previous month. In the fixed telephony segment, China Telecom ended December 2015 with 134.3 million lines in service, down from 135.9 million in the previous month.
