China Unicom launches 4G in 25 cities
China Unicom has launched its 4G services in 25 cities. The company plans to introduce the service in 300 cities by year-end, Xinhua reports. The company said it still considers its 3G network a priority and is adding 4G to "hotspot" areas, Unicom's general manager for marketing, Xiong Yu, said. China Unicom will charge for 4G and 3G services together. The operator also released around 60 devices, including 25 devices that support the company's 4G network.

China Unicom has successfully issued the offshore renminbi bonds in the aggregate amount of CNY 4.0 billion. China Unicom reported first-quarter service revenues up 11.8 percent from a year earlier to CNY 63.80 billion. Total revenues reached CNY 76.47 billion. Unicom establishes CNY 10 bln notes programme

China Unicom has established a medium term notes programme to raise CNY 10 billion. The company has appointed Bank of China, CICC HK Securities, J.P. Morgan and Nomura as the arrangers under the programme. China Unicom plans to use the proceeds of the programme for working capital and general corporate purposes.

China Unicom to launch 4G services on 18 March

China Unicom will introduce its 4G services on 18 March, following rivals China Telecom and China Mobile. Unicom's TD-LTE services will initially launch in 25 cities across China and will expanded to 100 cities by the end of this year, the Shanghai Daily reports. The operator, which has earmarked CNY 10 billion for 4G investments this year, further plans to launch FDD-LTE services after the government issues licences for the standard.

China Unicom accelerated profit growth in 2013 with a 46.7 percent rise in net profit to CNY 10.41 billion.
