China Unicom, Telecom, Mobile add 3 mln mobile subs in Jan

Chinese operators China Unicom, China Telecom, and China Mobile added over 3.03 mln mobile subscribers in January. China Telecom ended January with a total of 186.67 million mobile telephony subscribers, up from 185.62 million in November. China Unicom had over 299.1 million mobile subscribers at 31 December, following net additions of 83,000 subscribers during the month. China Mobile topped 808.5 million mobile telephony subscribers in January, up from 806.6 million at the end of December 2014.

China Telecom saw a net increase of 1.05 million mobile subscribers in January. China Telecom ended January with 107.36 million fixed broadband accesses, compared to 106.95 million the previous month. In the fixed telephony segment, China Telecom ended January with 142.75 million lines in service, down from 143.56 million at end-2014.

China Unicom had over 149.9 million mobile broadband subscribers at end-January, after an addition of 884,000 subscribers in the month. Total subscribers in the fixed broadband segment reached 69.1 million at end-January. During the month, the operator recorded a net addition of 317,000 subscribers in this segment. China Unicom ended January with 81.1 million local access subscribers, after a loss of 518,000 subscribers during the month.

During January, China Mobile saw 1.9 million net customer additions. China Mobile's 3G subscriber base reached 241 million at 31 January 2015, down from 245.7 million in December 2014. The operator ended January with over 106.7 million subscribers in the 4G segment compared with 90 million in the previous month.
