
Chinese internet users up 18.4% to 103 mln by mid-2005

There were 103 million internet users in China as of mid-2005, up 18.4 percent vs a year earlier. The country had 94 million internet users at start-2005, reports China Internet Network Information Center. The number of broadband customers rose by 23.8 percent year-on-year to reach 53 million by mid-2005. This is the first time broadband users overtake dial-up subscribers. China had 45.6 million internet-enabled PCs as at mid-2005, up 25.6 percent vs mid-2004. Some twenty million internet users bought products or services online, spending as much as CNY 10 million in H1 2005.
