
Cisco quarterly net profit jumps 63%

Cisco reported revenues of USD 10.4 billion for its fiscal third quarter to 1 May, up 27 percent from a year earlier. Net profit jumped 62.6 percent to USD 2.2 billion, and EPS was up 60.9 percent to USD 0.42. The company generated USD 3 billion in cash flow from operations, and finished the quarter with USD 39.1 billion in cash. Cisco said it saw a "return to strong balanced growth across geographies, products and customer segments that we haven't seen since before the global economic challenges began". In the US and Canada, sales were up 23 percent year-on-year to USD 5.6 billion, Europe grew by 15 percent to USD 2.1 billion, emerging markets were up 30 percent to USD 1.1 billion, Asia Pacific rose 41 percent to USD 1.1 billion and Japan increased 25 percent to USD 0.4 billion. On a product basis, router sales rose 23 percent, switches were up 40 percent, services increased 11 percent and advanced technologies rose 18 percent. Cisco said it had a book-to-bill ratio of around 1 in the quarter. Based on customer groups, orders from service providers were up 30 percent year-on-year, commercial orders rose 40 percent, enterprise orders increased 26 percent and consumer orders were up over 50 percent.
