Clearwire reports positive EBITDA in Q4
Clearwire said it expects to report record fourth-quarter revenues of approximately USD 362 million, more than double the year-earlier amount. Retail revenues are estimated at USD 198 million and wholesale at USD 164 million, representing 1 percent and 20 percent sequential growth, respectively. The wireless broadband operator said it added around 900,000 wholesale customers in the quarter, for a total base of 9.1 million, while the retail base numbered 1.3 million at year-end. The total base of 10.4 million customers was up 104 percent from 2010 and in line with the company's forecast for over 10 million subscribers. Thanks to the subscriber growth and increased traffic, the company moved to positive adjusted EBITDA in Q4. Clearwire finished the year with USD 1.1 billion in cash, after a cash burn of USD 82 million in Q4. Final quarterly results will be released in a few weeks.
