Cloud computing worth EUR 449 bln to EU by 2020 - study

A wider adoption of cloud services could add cumulative total revenue of EUR 449 billion to the GDP of the EU's 28 member states by 2020, according to a wide-ranging study by Deloitte for the European Commission. A total of 303,000 new businesses, mainly SMEs, could be created between 2015 and 2020 through the development and deployment of cloud computing, said the report, conducted from December 2014 to April 2016. In addition, the implementation of proposed policy measures such as increased security certification and removal of data localisation requirements could increase benefits by EUR
