Cloud computing worth EUR 449 bln to EU by 2020 - study
A wider adoption of cloud services could add cumulative total revenue of EUR 449 billion to the GDP of the EU’s 28 member states by 2020, according to a wide-ranging study by Deloitte for the European Commission. A total of 303,000 new businesses, mainly SMEs, could be created between 2015 and 2020 through the development and deployment of cloud computing, said the report, conducted from December 2014 to April 2016. In addition, the implementation of proposed policy measures such as increased security certification and removal of data localisation requirements could increase benefits by EUR 19 billion between 2015 and 2020, said the report.

Huawei announces new European collaborations

Huawei has extended its partnership with Commvault and sealed a new agreement with SCC France. The three-year collaboration between Huawei and Commvault will now include Commvault's cloud back-up solution being certified on T-System's Open Telekom Cloud, engineered by Huawei. European IoT market could reach EUR 80 bln in 10 years

The European IoT market could be worth EUR 80 billion of revenue by 2025, representing 7 points of GDP, according to research presented in Paris by AT Kearney. The study's co-author, Herve Collognon, said all sectors will be affected by the "new revolution" of IoT, covering sensors, bandwidth, hardware, storage, cloud, big data and other areas.
