COLT activates data centre facility in Nossegem, Brussels

First national and international clients already installed
COLT, a leading European provider of business communications, has activated its data centre near Brussels at Nossegem in response to increasing customer demand for hosting solutions, in particular to meet storage and regulatory compliance needs. COLT's other data centre in Belgium at Anderlecht is now 98 per cent full leading to the need for new facilities to serve COLT customers, which include Daimler Chrysler, Euroclear and VLM Airlines. The first customers were installed in the Nossegem centre at the beginning of January.
"The activation of our second data centre in Belgium is a clear indication of the growth that COLT is seeing here. There is increasing demand for our services. Initially we have opened 600 m2, but we have room for three times as much as demand grows," says Henri van der Vaeren, Managing Director of COLT in Benelux.
One of the first customers to be using the new facility is VLM Airlines. COLT hosts its complete IT infrastructure under a three year agreement. "Our operations are run though COLT's server park. By outsourcing to COLT, we know that we can count on guaranteed availability of our systems," explains Rony Timmermans, Executive Director Finance & Administration for VLM Airlines.
COLT now operates two data centres in Belgium and a total of 13 across Europe, all connected to COLT's extensive pan-European fibre network, offering customers a highly resilient national or pan-European communications infrastructure. COLT offers an extensive range of data centre solutions, supported by permanent security and value-added services.
