Com Hem provides Netflix app on TiVo
Com Hem said it is the first operator in Sweden to provide Netflix via its digital TV service, as it makes it available through TiVo. Netflix can be found under "applications" within TiVo and will cost SEK 79 per month, but is currently available on three months' free trial. ComHem said the Netflix app makes it possible to watch entire series of drama and comedies such as Hemlock Grove, Arrested Development, Orange is the New Black and Breaking Bad.

Com Hem suffers dip in Q4 revenue and RGUs

Swedish cable company Com Hem said revenue in the fourth quarter of 2013 fell to SEK 1.114 billion from SEK 1.145 billion a year earlier. Adjusted EBITDA declined to SEK 541 million from SEK 583 million, as a result of lower revenue and slightly higher production and operating costs. The group net loss for the quarter rose to SEK 478 million from SEK 116 million a year earlier.

Com Hem blames Skanova for outage in Gothenburg

Com Hem said a problem on subcontractor Skanova's network that arose in the early hours of 28 January has affected its services in Gothenburg, hitting broadband, telephony and TV. It said the problem is widespread and it does not currently know when the hitch will be sorted out. Skanova is part of Telia.

BC Partners mulls IPO for Com Hem - report

BC Partners has held preliminary talks with the management of Swedish cable operator Com Hem about an initial public offering, Bloomberg Businessweek reported, citing three people with knowledge of the matter. Bloomberg said a BC Partners spokesman and Com Hem chief financial officer Joachim Jaginder both declined to comment.

Com Hem runs competition to promote Cartoon Network

Cable operator Com Hem is running a competition to promote the Cartoon Network. The prize is a skiing holiday for two adults and two children in Stoten in Dalarna county. To participate, customers must use the competition application under the TiVo Start app menu and answer four quiz questions.

Netfix reported better-than-expected results for the fourth quarter, adding 3.85 million new customers for a total of over 44 million worldwide at year-end. Com Hem provides exclusive music sessions with Universal

Com Hem said it has tied up with Universal Music to provide exclusive performances by Swedish and international artists. The performances take place once a month and are filmed for later broadcast on ComHem's Digster Play service, available on its On Demand and TiVo services. Digster Play provides play-lists with music videos, footage from behind the scenes, and Com Hem Sessions concerts, starring artists such as One Republic, Amy MacDonald and Zara Larsson.

Com Hem switches 10 digital channel numbers

Com Hem said it is switching certain digital channel numbers on 21 January. It said Kanal 11 will now be on channel 11, TV4 Sport on channel 12, MTV on 13, TV4 on 15, TLC on 16, SVT1 HD on 21, SVT2 HD on 22, Eurosport on 101, Eurosport 2 on 103 and C More Kids on 160. It said digital boxes and TV sets with built-in digital tuners will find the new locations automatically.

Telia Sweden VoD shop shows films from Gothenburg festival

Telia Sweden said its online video store will be showing a selection of films under the heading 'Festival on Demand' that come out at the Gothenburg Film Festival, which runs from 24 January to 03 February. Telia says it now has 647,000 TV customers nationwide. The six films being shown as part of Festival on Demand are competing for its SEK 100,000 Telia Film Award. The award will be handed out at the closing ceremony at Lindholmen Science Park on 01 February.

Com Hem adds TLC to line-up

Swedish cable TV operator Com Hem said it will bring the channel TLC to its basic analogue line-up as well as to all TiVo digital packages on 15 January. It said TLC features entertainment programmes about ordinary people living extraordinary lives. Themes include travel, food, design and architecture. It will be available on channel 47, or from 21 January, on channel 16. Analogue households will need to do a manual search.

Netflix tops Swedish VoD viewers in Q3

Audience ratings company MediaMatning i Skandinavian (MMS) said Netflix was the most popular VoD provider in Sweden in the third quarter, reaching 308,000 people aged 9 to 99 per day, or about one third of people with access to the service. In second place came MTG's Viaplay, reaching 128,000 people a day. Next was C More Play with 26,000 daily viewers. Tied for fourth place in terms of daily views were TV4 Play Premium and HBO Nordic with 17,000. Next came Voddler with 9,000 daily viewers.

C More says HBO's 'Looking' makes Swedish debut in January

Nordic pay-TV provider C More Entertainment said the HBO comedy-drama series 'Looking' will have its debut in Sweden on 20 January. The serial follows the fortunes of three gay men in San Francisco. It wil also be available in the on-demand service, C More Play. It stars Jonathan Groff from 'Glee', Frankie J Alvarez, and Murray Bartlett. Guest actors include 'Quantum Leap' star Scott Bakula and Russell Tovey from the UK version of 'Being Human' and 'The History Boys'.

Com Hem to offer Netflix through Tivo service

Swedish cable operator Com Hem agreed a content deal with online video service Netflix.
