Comcast said it has deployed gigabit internet to nearly 58 million premises in the US, making it the nation’s largest provider of gigabit broadband. “This deployment represents the fastest roll out of gigabit speeds to the most homes in the country,” Comcast said. Verizon was the first to launch 5G, with its network going live in October in parts of Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento.
Comcast's residential broadband service is powered by Xfinity xFi, a digital dashboard that personalizes, monitors and manages Wi-Fi connected devices in the home. Consumers can add xFi Pods extenders to get coverage in hard to reach parts of their home. Comcast Business provides multi-gig speeds to business customers in its footprint. Xfinity Internet customers also have access to over 19 million Wi-Fi hotspots.
