
Comcast grows Q2 sales 6.1%

US cable operator and broadcaster Comcast reported second-quarter revenues up 6.1 percent to USD 1.2 billion. Operating cash flow increased 4.2 percent from a year earlier to USD 5.0 billion, and operating profit rose 4.8 percent to USD 3.1 billion. EPS jumped 35.1 percent to USD 0.50, after last-year's result was depressed by a one-time tax charge. Free cash flow improved 2.2 percent to USD 1.6 billion, and capex was up 1.3 percent to USD 1.3 billion. At the cable operations, sales improved 6.0 percent to USD 9.9 billion, and operating cash flow grew 5.5 percent to USD 4.1 billion, led by broadband and business services and more services per customer. Average monthly revenue per video customer increased 8.0 percent to USD 148.57. The TV customer base fell by 176,000 in the three months to 22.12 million, while broadband customers grew by 156,000 to 18.74 million, and telephony subscribers were up by 158,000 to 9.66 million.
