Comcast launches AnyPlay for live TV on tablets
US cable operator Comcast announced the launch of its AnyPlay service, allowing customers to watch channels from their TV subscription on tablets. Live TV is streamed over Wi-Fi from the home router to an iPad and soon the Motorola Xoom tablet. Simultaneous streams are possible while the main set-to box in the home is use. Comcast is initially launching the service free to its Xfinity HD Triple Play customers in areas of Denver and Nashville and said the service will expand to other markets soon. The company also offers the Xfinity TV app to access on-demand movies and TV shows free, both inside and outside of the home. Comcast said it will also soon offer on-demand content to the Xbox 360 and Samsung smart TVs.
