CommScope expands to small cells with Airvana acquisition

CommScope has agreed to acquire small cells specialist Airvana for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 2000, Airvana began to develop small cell technology to complement its macro cell mobile infrastructure products and now focuses exclusively on small cells. The company has shipped 1.5 million small cells to date and supports one of the largest small cell networks in the world. The acquisition will expand CommScope's range of products to enhance indoor wireless capacity and coverage, adding small cells to its distributed antenna systems.
