Coolpad appoints Huawei's Jiangfeng as CEO
Chinese manufacturer Coolpad has appointed Liu Jiangfeng as its CEO, effective immediately. Jiangfeng will also serve as an executive director on Coolpad's board. 

Jiangfeng worked for Huawei for 19 years since 1996, serving as president of Global Technology Service Division, VP of Network Product Line, VP of Asia Pacific District, and president of Honor Business Unit. Jiangfeng replaces Guo Deying, who resigned from his positions of executive director, chairman of the board, chairman of the Nomination Committee, and CEO at the beginning of August.

Coolpad H1 sales fall 40%

Chinese smartphone maker Coolpad reported revenues for the first half of 2016 down 40 percent year-on-year to HKD 5.28 billion, saying it suffered from the first competition on the local smartphone market. The company improved its gross margin by 0.8 percent point year-on-year to 13.5 percent, helped by sales of more higher-priced 4G devices. Coolpad launches Mega 2.5 D smartphone in India

Coolpad has released its 'Mega 2.5D' smartphone in India. The device features 3GB RAM, a 5.5-inch HD display, 8-megapixel front camera, 2500 Mah battery, Quad-core processor, and an 8-megapixel camera, ET reports. The Coolpad Mega 2.5D will be available on Amazon.in for INR 6,999. The first sale will take place on 24 August.

Chinese manufacturer Coolpad has announced that Guo Deying has resigned from his positions of executive director, chairman of the board, chairman of the Nomination Committee, and CEO, effective immediately. Deying's resignation is due to his health condition, Coolpad said. The Coolpad board has decided to appoint Deying as the company's Honorary Chairman.

Coolpad brings Catalyst phone to US with T-Mobile, MetroPCS

Chinese manufacturer Coolpad Technologies will launch its Coolpad Catalyst postpaid product in the US with T-Mobile. The Coolpad Catalyst phone is scheduled to launch in T-Mobile stores on 7 June. Coolpad to launch R&D centre in Bengaluru by end-2016

Chinese smartphone maker Coolpad will establish an R&D unit in Bengaluru by year-end. Via this initiative, Coolpad aims to add localised features to meet demands of the Indian consumers, The Economic Times reports, citing Coolpad India CEO Syed Tajuddin. Coolpad to sell 4 mln smartphones in India this year

Chinese manufacturer Coolpad plans to sell around 4 million smartphones this year in India, The Economic Times reports, citing Coolpad India CEO Syed Tajuddin. Coolpad has teamed up with Videocon to assemble its handsets in India. "We have already sold about 1 million units and the aim is now to sell about 4 million units... We will add at least 5 devices this year", Tajuddin said.

Coolpad launches Max phablet in India for INR 24,999

Chinese smartphone maker Coolpad has launched its Max smartphone in India. Starting 30 May, the Coolpad Max phablet will be commercially available on the local market in Rose Gold and Gold colour options for INR 24,999, The Indian Express reports. According to Coolpad CEO Li Bin, the company plans to launch two new smartphones on the local market before Diwali, as part of 'Make in India' initiative. Coolpad devices will also be available via offline retail channels later this year.
