Mobile operator Cosmote is nearing 10 million subscribers across its operations in five countries of southeast Europe. The company reported 26.7 percent growth in the number of subscribers over the 12 months to end-September to almost 10 million. In the third quarter, group revenues rose 18.4 percent from a year earlier to EUR 593.5 million, and EBITDA improved 11 percent to EUR 248.6 million. Net profit was up 21 percent to EUR 117 million. The growth came form a strong performance in Cosmote's home market Greece and at Globul in Bulgaria, as well as a turn to profitability in Macedonia. In Romania, revenues were up sharply, while losses widened due to the continued expansion of activities.
