Cosmote reaches 1.2 Gbps in latest LTE tests with Ericsson
Ericsson announced a demonstration with Greek operator Cosmote to achieve 1.2 Gbps over its LTE network. The demo used tri-carrier aggregation with a total 60 MHz spectrum, as well as 4x4 MIMO and 256 QAM, delivered to a Cobham Aeroflex TM500 mobile device. The use of 4x4 MIMO doubles peak rates with no additional spectrum. In addition, 256 QAM enhances the data rate of existing frequency spectrum by up to 33 percent, according to Ericsson. Cosmote did not say when it plans to deploy the new technology.

Wind Hellas sees higher LTE traffic during Survivor voting

Wind Hellas said SMS and social media voting for the local 'Survivor' reality TV programme's final led to a traffic increase through its LTE network. During voting, SMS shipments grew 55 percent and data traffic via social media was up 500 percent versus an average month, the operator said. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are at the top of the end-users' social media preferences.

Wind launches LTE router tariff plans

Greek operator Wind launched 'SimpleFi on the go,' a new line of tariff plans that support LTE speeds. When signing a subscription for one of the available plans, customers get a Huawei E5577Cs Mobile WiFi LTE router at EUR 59.90. For instance, a 30 GB tariff plan offered with a two-year agreement costs EUR 20 per month. Wind said it invested over EUR 500 million over the last four years in its LTE network.

Cosmote offers Home Double Play update to 50 Mbps

Cosmote enables Home Double Play 24Mbps customers to upgrade to VDSL 50 Mbps speeds for EUR 5.50 extra per month. Ericsson meldt dat het samen met de Griekse operator Cosmote 1,2 Gbps heeft gehaald in het LTE-netwerk. Er is getest met 3-carrier aggregatie met in totaal 60 MHz aan spectrum, met 4x4 MIMO en 256 QAM. Cosmote's data traffic during Christmas time and New Year reached 1 PB for the first time. The data from Cosmote's 4G/LTE and LTE-A networks rose five-fold compared to last year. Cosmote offers 500 Mbps for first time in Greece

Cosmote announced that it started offering mobile internet at speeds of up to 500 Mbps in Athens, Thessaloniki and other regions, while the service expansion is progressing rapidly throughout the country.
